Nature Strips Council Trees

All the nature strips in Lockhart Shire Council area are the property of the Council and whereas we appreciate residents mowing and watering lawns and trees, no alteration of nature strips can be carried out without Council permission. This includes:

  • pruning or removal of street trees or plantings

  • installation of any plantings by residents

  • alterations to driveway crossovers.

Council would also like to ask residents not to pile grass cuttings high against tree trunks as this can cause root rot and other problems with tree health. If you do wish to put grass cuttings around trunks make sure you let the air circulate and don't build up clippings to depth of over 100mm
