Last modified: November 17, 2009 - 11:43 PM

The Mayor, Councillors and staff attended a meeting in Lockhart on 5 August 2009 with representatives of NSW Department of Planning. The meeting provided a good opportunity for those in attendance to hear details of the planning reform process from the Department of Planning first hand and more importantly the contentious issue of the minimum lot size of 650 hectares (for a dwelling to be erected on farmland) was the main subject of discussion however the planning processes generally, the role and the purpose of the Lockhart Local Environment Plan 2004 and the required conversion of the LEP to the new State template was also discussed. The meeting was most worthwhile and provided information generally on the LEP processes which will be required to be undertaken by Council within the next two years or so.
